Xiaomi, today launched its Redmi series device at an event held in New Delhi. The event was headed by the Managing Director of Xiaomi India, Manu Jain, along with the Chief Marketing Officer, Anuj Sharma. The device launched at todays’s event was the Xiaomi Redmi Y3.

Redmi Y3 is a major upgrade from last year’s Redmi Y2 phone. This device has an IPS LCD display with a size of 6.26 inches (15.9 cm) and an Aspect Ratio of 19:9. The screen resolution of the device is 720 x 1520 pixels along with a Pixel Density of 269 ppi. It bears the Waterdrop Notch in the front and Xiaomi’s Aura design at the rear.
The screen comes in with a Gorilla Glass 5 protection along with a hydrophobic nano-coating on top of it. There is no IP rating that Xiaomi provides with the device, but it claims that the device is Splash proof. The device would be available in 3 color variants, which are Bold Red, Elegant Blue and Prime Black.
On the hardware front, the Redmi Y3 is built on a 64 bit Architecture. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC and accelerated by the Adreno 506 GPU. It runs on Octa core processor (4 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and Kryo 250 + 4 cores clocked at 1.8 Ghz and Kryo 250). The device is running on Android v9.0 Pie with MIUI skin on top.
The camera unit consists of a dual camera setup with a 12 MP primary camera along with a 2 MP depth sensor. The power factor for Redmi Y3 is it’s front camera which is a 32 MP selfie shooter. Xiaomi claims that the sensor size in Redmi Y3 is 22.5 percent larger than the last year’s Redmi Y2. It packs in an AI Beautify mode to help selfie lovers capture great selfies. Other camera features include AI Scene Detection and AI Portrait Mode.
Redmi Y3 packs in a massive 4,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery to juice up the device.
Other features include a Fingerprint Sensor at the rear and a 3.5mm audio jack. It supports dual SIM with dual VoLTE and has a dedicated slot for microSD card.
Redmi Y3 will be made available in two variants. The 3GB + 32GB variant will be priced at Rs 9,999. And the 4GB + 64GB variant will be priced at Rs 11,999. The device is scheduled to go on sale from April 30 on mi.com, amazon and Mi Offline Stores.
