The popularity of gaming smartphones is still somewhat dissilient. However, this has not discouraged the players or the manufacturers to strive for betterment of these phones. With the likes of popular PC games such as, the Call of Duty, getting their mobile versions, we can see a huge jump in this segment.
One device that recently added in this category is the new Black Shark 2. The company launched its first device, the Black Shark in April last year at an economical price. And this surely was the turning point in the segment of gaming smartphones.
Here we take a look at the detailed specifications of what the company has to offer this time.
Firstly, starting off with the physical overview of the smartphone. The Black Shark 2 comes with a 6.38-inch FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen resolution you get here is 1080 x 2340. Further, it is claimed to feature an AMOLED display. Moreover, the display os the device comes with a support for HDR 10 and touch algorithm optimization. This feature comes especially for the gaming smartphones.
Hardware and Software
Now, if you look at the performance part, the Black Shark 2 will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. It internal of the device also houses a liquid cooling system comprising of liquid cooled plate and liquid cooled tube. This prevents the device from heating excessively during times of intensive gaming. In addition, it comes with 6GB of RAM + 128GB of storage, at it’s base configuration. The device will run on Android v9.0 Pie out of the box.
The device comes with an inbuild feature which the company calls, the Ludicrous Mode. This feature allows players to play games at 100% CPU power, thus providing a huge boost in the performance. At the same time, the “X-style” design and the RGB logo at the rear, makes the device quite attractive in terms of looks. Along, it comes with press sensitive controls for the display, and AI gaming experience features.
The camera unit of the device features a dual-camera setup at the rear. In addition to a 48MP primary sensor (f/1.75 aperture), it has a 12MP telephoto lens (f/2.2 aperture) which gives you a 2x lossless zoom. The front consists of a 20MP selfie shooter (f/2.0 aperture).
Battery and Charging
The Black Shark 2 packs in a 4,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery to keep the device powered up, which comes along with a 27W fast charging support, via a USB type-C port.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor. Although, the device lacks the 3.5mm headphone jack, a convertible dongle is included in the box. It supports dual SIM with dual VoLTE at 4G connection.
Pricing and Availability
Finally, talking about the pricing and availability of the device. Two variants are available for sale as of now. The 6GB + 128GB variant comes in Shadow Black color, priced at Rs 39,999. Whereas, the higher 12GB + 256GB variant comes in Frozen Silver color and priced at Rs 49,999.
The smartphone will be made available in India starting from June 4, exclusively on Flipkart.
